Come join the fun! Make handmade collage/art
cards. Choose from a variety of pre-cut images and text.
Recycle old vintage cards, letters, photographs, books, and exotic
paper. Add Graphtint and colored pencil or hand stitch a

ADVENTURES IN GLAZING with LISA ORR

Beautiful, functional, fluid, engaging, and, most of
all, COLORFUL! These are adjectives used to describe the
pottery of Lisa Orr. While her style harkens back to the Majolica
of such greats as Bernard Palissey and Betty Woodman, her work stands
alone in it's uniqueness and vitality. In this workshop Lisa will
present a low-tech cornucopia of low fire, softly bisque-molded, slip
trailed and sprigged functional pottery drippingly glazed with bright
alkaline colors. In addition to observing Lisa's glazing techniques,
participants will make a small piece.
Lisa Orr is an internationally known Texas clay artist,
teacher, and documentarian.

Don't miss your chance to participate in this day long
hand building workshop with two fantastic Texas clay artists, Terry Buck
and Gaye Lynn Hodgson - two of the founders of the Texas Clay
Festival. Emphasis will be on surface design and texture. Many
of Terry's forms are inspired by oddities and wonders found in
nature. Gaye Lynn's handbuilt work also centers around the interplay
of texture and form. She will discuss her approach to hand building
and offer surface design, stamp making ideas, and construction tips.
In this hands-on format, participants are welcome to build forms from
lowfire clay using the the processes illustrated in the workshop.
Construct several forms and create a number of texturing./stamping tools
to take back to your studio. All skill levels are welcome for this
creative day with two amazing artists.

In this session, students will learn creative ways to
incorporate different stringing materials and found objects into a unique
and funky necklace. We will make colorful recycled paper beads and
mixed media pendants to add to each necklace. Each student will

fun jewelry techniques. This is the third and
final session in the Make and Taste series.

Add some color to your wardrobe with a
day of fabric and dyes! Robin Wood is a master at combining color
and fabric in the ancient process known today as Tie Dye. Choose
from thirty colors. Learn how to do simple or complex folds with
easy to follow step-by-step charts. Create a wide variety of
designs. You bring up to 10 items - cotton, silk or linen T-shirts, aprons,
totebags,
socks and more. Robin supplies the beautiful dyes, lots of
instruction and hand-outs to allow you to practice at home after the

CERAMIC DECALS, OVERGLAZES, LUSTERS, AND SILK
SCREENING with RIMAS VISGIRDA
MONDAY THROUGH

internationally known Rimas VisGirda returns to Eye of the Dog by popular
demand.
Learn
to put images on silk-screens using the photo-sensitive direct emulsion
process and make ceramic decals. Decals may be applied and fired onto
ceramics, as well as enameled metal and glass. Decals may also be applied
to any smooth surface as a decorative element. The same basic silk-screen
techniques can be used for printing patterns onto fabric such as logos and
designs onto t-shirts. Topics include printing directly onto fired as well
as unfired clay. Discussion/demonstration subjects include multi-color
printing, color separation and applications to high fire processes.
Experiment with hand coloring B&W decals with overglazes and lusters.
The course is designed to be "low-tech" and uses no
sophisticated apparatus allowing the participant to continue making decals
at home or studio. Participants will create their own decals and receive a
screen and squeegee for later use at their leisure. Ceramic experience is
not required.

wheel is a magical tool. You center the clay and the clay centers
you. Instruction begins with mastering the cylinder - the form that
is the foundation for every other form (excluding the plate).
Students will progress at their individual pace to the other forms - vase,
bow., sphere, plate, and pitcher , as time allows. We will also cover
trimming, handles, spouts, and slip and glaze decoration.
Margaret Wildenhain - a wonderful California potter active in the 1950's -
once said, "When you can throw, you have wings, you can
fly!" Truer words were never spoken. Come and fly!

This workshop is open to all skill
levels. Experience the joy of making, decorating, glazing and firing
objects made of clay. This 2 day workshop takes you through the
entire clay process.
The first Saturday you will learn
basic, simple hand building techniques and spend most of the day with
hands on clay. The second Saturday you will learn to glaze and fire
your bisque fired pieces in the exciting, ancient Japanese method known
as Raku. You'll be taking home some great pieces! Your tuition

and any other objects that can be glued down, drawn on, or scratched!
Tools for the day and sample boards will be provided - just bring your imagination.

The "Bust" has been with us for centuries.
Depicting kings, saints, soldiers, heroes, and artists - these statues
convey the essence of the people portrayed without the added details of
arms, legs, armament, horses, etc.
In this workshop we will construct one or more busts up to
28" high using Raku clay and a soft slab/coil technique. Choose
to work from photos or imagination - learn the basics of the anatomy of the
upper torso and head.
Tuition of $400 includes instruction, clay, glazes,
firing, and lunch each day. Pieces will be decorated using engobes and
once fired to cone 03. (To be picked up later.)

ART WELDING - JUNK INTO ART with Royce Carlson

Learn the basics of wire-feed welding
while creating your own works of found-object steel art. You will
learn how to use a wire-feed welder and other metal tools and how to use the
tools safely. You will receive basic instruction in 3-D structural
design so you can stick metal to metal in a durable and artistic way.
Equipment provided - welders, welding hoods, grinders, saws etc.
Students will need to bring leather gloves and safety glasses. Wear a
long sleeve cotton shirt, long pants, and closed toe shoes. Bring your
own stash of cool steel junk to turn into art. Some materials will be

In this weekend class we will explore the science of
cement through low relief mortar sculpture with found object mosaic.
Each student will make a stepping stone or piece of garden art to take home
as well as participate in a larger mosaic that will enhance the grounds of
Eye of the Dog Art Center for years to come. Materials will be
provided but we encourage you to search your cupboards for any or all of the
following "cool junk" items: colored glass, marbles, dishes
and ceramics to smash, mirrors, sea shells, bolts, coins, polished stones,
etc. Be prepared to get dirty, apron, work smock, and rubber gloves
are advised.

A wonderful chance to immerge yourself for a week in the
